The digitalization of gas supply in Uzbekistan is moving from pilot projects to an industry standard. The legal foundation is Resolution No. 319 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 31 May 2024, which approved the Rules for the Use of Natural Gas. Paragraphs 75–80 of the Rules set the requirements for gas metering stations: wholesale consumers equip them with modern automated metering systems capable of remote control of the gas supply.
The deadlines in force across the industry
Adoption is staged, with different deadlines for different consumer categories:
- CNG filling stations (AGNKS) must complete equipping their metering stations with remote shutoff devices earlier than others;
- other wholesale consumers have later deadlines during 2026;
- from 1 October, operating gas metering stations without remotely controlled shutoff valves will not be permitted.
The practical takeaway: enterprises connected to gas distribution networks should plan the survey and installation early — before the end-of-season peak load on contractors.
What a metering station with a remote valve looks like
