Remote gas shutoff device (smart valve)

A shutoff device with automatic disconnection and reconnection of natural gas per the Hududgazta'minot technical requirements: a DN50–300 ball valve with an electric actuator, a 4G LTE/5G RTU controller, an anti-vandal cabinet and a staged safe gas start-up.

What a remote shutoff device is

A remote shutoff device is a smart gas valve: a flanged ball valve with an electric actuator, an RTU controller and autonomous power that opens and shuts off the natural gas supply on a command from the gas utility's billing system. The operator controls a site's gas supply remotely — no field crew, with a complete log of commands and states.

The Hududgazta'minot requirements for wholesale consumers

In June 2026, Hududgazta'minot approved technical requirements for remote shutoff devices capable of operative automatic disconnection and reconnection of natural gas. They are installed on the pipelines of large wholesale consumers connected to gas distribution networks in every region of Uzbekistan — from Karakalpakstan and Khorezm to Tashkent and Fergana. ERKSONS equipment is engineered to these requirements and to the underlying program: decree УП-6010 and resolution ПП-4840 on the automated natural gas control and metering system.

Technical specifications

  • Diameter: DN 50–300 mm;
  • Design pressure: 16 bar;
  • Leakage class: “A”;
  • Body: cast carbon steel with an anti-corrosion coating;
  • Ingress protection: IP67;
  • Operating temperature: −40 to +60 °C, humidity up to 98%;
  • Mounting: flanged and wafer-type (GOST), mating flanges included;
  • Power: 12 V DC with a solar panel controller option;
  • Endurance: 30,000+ cycles, service life 10+ years, warranty 2+ years.

What the device consists of

  • A ball valve with an electric open/close actuator;
  • An RTU controller with 4G LTE and 5G support (SIM and eSIM);
  • A battery of at least 20 Ah;
  • An anti-vandal cabinet with an opening sensor and sealing points;
  • A valve position indicator (open / closed).

A safe shutoff and start-up algorithm

Close and open commands arrive via API from the billing system. Closing starts no earlier than 3 minutes after the command, and gas cannot be resumed until the consumer's responsible representative confirms readiness with a button on the device. The pipeline is then filled in stages: 10% opening (at least 10 minutes), then 30% (at least 5 minutes), and only then 100%. Every operation is archived with an exact timestamp.

Control, telemetry and the software side

Valve state (hourly and daily archives), the command log and cabinet-opening events flow into our gas monitoring software with billing API integration. See the RTU controller page for the communication channel, and telemetry, SCADA and industrial IoT for the remote control architecture.

Supply, installation and service by ERKSONS

ERKSONS is an engineering company and supplier: we deliver shutoff devices with conformity certificates (ISO 9001:2015) and technical documentation in Uzbek and Russian, install and commission them, train gas utility specialists, and provide diagnostics, repair and failure analysis. Leave a request — we will size the devices for your sites and quote the project.

Certificate of conformity and testing

The Wuhan TimeWave valves supplied by ERKSONS TRADE as the official distributor are registered in the National Certification System of the Republic of Uzbekistan: certificate of conformity No. UZ.SMT-01-0103-206173 (issued 13 May 2026, valid until 14 May 2028) confirms compliance with ГОСТ МЭК 60204-1-2020, ГОСТ 12.2.007.0-75 and ГОСТ 5761-2005. The samples passed practical testing in accredited laboratories — details in the certification news.

Deadlines for wholesale consumers

The Rules for the Use of Natural Gas (Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 319 of 31 May 2024, paragraphs 75–80) provide for equipping metering stations with automated systems featuring remotely controlled shutoff devices. The industry schedule is staged: CNG stations (AGNKS) complete the upgrade first, then the other wholesale consumers; from 1 October, metering stations without remote shutoff valves are not permitted to operate. We recommend planning installation early — see the requirements overview.
